Greetings, fellow orbiters! As I sit here reflecting on life, laughter, and the beautiful chaos we’ve created together, I can’t help but think about the toast I received during the 20th anniversary celebration of the Chuckleheads on April 18, 2026. If this toast were to be my eulogy, I would be proud to have these words spoken about me.

Let me take you back to that joyous night, a night filled with laughter, love, and a sense of community that only comes from two decades of shared experiences. The toast encapsulated not just my journey but the spirit of what we’ve built together at Planet Improv.

20th Anniversary Toast – Scott Pacitti from the Chuckleheads 4.18.26

By Matt Sadinsky

Well…now that we’ve all survived that.

Or more accurately, now that Scott has once again convinced about twenty grown adults to get up in public and do things that would normally require either courage or very bad judgement.  Probably both.  And that’s really the thing about Scott.

He has this gift for pulling people in.  He sees something in you – maybe a lounge lizard, maybe a mobster boss’s lawyer, maybe someone married to the mobster, maybe just someone who looks vaguely suspicious under soft lighting – and suddenly you’re in the show.  And somehow, you’re glad you said yes.

Because Scott loves the room.  He works the room.  He wants everyone in the room to have a great time.  Not just the funniest people, not just the loudest people, not just the ones who already know what they’re doing.  Everybody.  That’s rare.

He understands that comedy is not just about being funny.  It’s about what funny does.  It lifts the weary soul.  It loosens up the troubled heart.  It gives people a little relief from the stress, the craziness, the heaviness, and all the strange nonsense life throws at us.

And somehow, Scott keeps doing that.  Year after year.  For 20 years!  Show after show.  Even with the incessant yelling.  Which to be fair, is never mean-spirited.  It’s more like enthusiasm – with no indoor setting.

And honestly, by now, it wouldn’t feel like Scott production without it.

So tonight wasn’t just about laughs.  It was about generosity.   About play.  About being a little ridiculous together.  About bringing out the kid in each of us.  About getting out of our heads for a while – and into something lighter.

And a lot of that is Scott.  So, here’s to Scott – the man who fills a room, works a room, cast a room, and occasionally yells at a room – all in the service of joy.

For twenty years, he’s reminded us that comedy doesn’t just make life funnier.  It makes life lighter.  Happy anniversary, Scott and the Chuckleheads.

“Well…now that we’ve all survived that.”

Isn’t that a fitting way to begin? Life is a series of moments where we stumble, trip, and sometimes fall flat on our faces. Yet, here we are, celebrating triumphs and tribulations together. My hope has always been to create a space where we can embrace the awkwardness and celebrate the absurdity of it all.

“Or more accurately, now that Scott has once again convinced about twenty grown adults to get up in public and do things that would normally require either courage or very bad judgement. Probably both.”

Ah, the essence of improv! Convincing everyday folks to dive into the deep end of creativity is a thrill like no other. Watching someone transform from a hesitant participant into a bold performer brings me immeasurable joy. It’s about taking risks, stepping out of comfort zones, and yes, sometimes making questionable decisions that lead to the best stories.

“He has this gift for pulling people in.”

This line speaks to my heart. I’ve always seen potential in everyone—whether you’re channeling your inner lounge lizard or embodying a mobster’s lawyer. My joy comes from bringing people together, igniting that spark of creativity, and watching it flourish. It’s about saying yes to new experiences and finding joy in the process.

“Because Scott loves the room.”

In every show, I’ve aimed to create an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance. I want everyone—regardless of experience or background—to feel included and valued. Laughter is a universal language, and I’ve dedicated my life to ensuring that everyone in the room has a chance to contribute to that dialogue.

“He understands that comedy is not just about being funny.”

This is the crux of what I’ve learned through the years. Comedy goes beyond punchlines and laughter; it serves as a balm for our weary souls. It’s a way to connect, to empathize, and to lighten the load that life often places on our shoulders. Whether it’s through a silly character, an unexpected twist, or a shared moment of vulnerability, my goal has always been to remind people that it’s okay to let go, to embrace the ridiculousness, and to find relief in the humor of our everyday struggles.

“It lifts the weary soul. It loosens up the troubled heart.”

This couldn’t be more true. I have seen people walk into our shows carrying the weight of the world, only to leave with smiles on their faces and laughter in their hearts. There’s a magic in that transformation. It’s the joy of shared experience, the communal release of tension, and the reminder that we’re all in this together. If I’ve played a part in making someone’s day a little brighter, then I consider that a victory.

“And somehow, Scott keeps doing that. Year after year. For 20 years!”

Twenty years is a long time, and while the journey has had its ups and downs, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together. It’s not just about the shows we’ve put on; it’s about the friendships we’ve formed, the risks we’ve taken, and the laughter that has echoed through the halls of Planet Improv. Each performance is a testament to the resilience and creativity of our community—a beautiful tapestry woven from the threads of countless stories, characters, and moments.

“Even with the incessant yelling.”

Ah, the yelling! It’s become a hallmark of my style, a reflection of my enthusiasm for the craft and my desire to engage the audience fully.  Matt joked that it’s not a Scott production without a bit of energetic shouting. But it’s all in good fun—a way to elevate the energy and encourage everyone to join in. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels free to express themselves, where loudness is not just accepted but celebrated.

“So tonight wasn’t just about laughs. It was about generosity.”

This is a beautiful reminder of the deeper purpose behind our gatherings. Comedy is a generous act; it invites people into a shared experience, breaks down barriers, and fosters connection. It’s about being willing to be a little vulnerable, to expose ourselves to laughter and joy, and to extend that joy to others. Each performance is an opportunity to give and receive, to share in the delight of spontaneity, and to create a sense of belonging.

When we gather in that room, we’re not just entertainers and audience members; we’re a community. We’re friends, family, and even strangers who come together to create something special. The laughter we share paves the way for deeper conversations, understanding, and support. It’s the kind of generosity that can change lives, even if just for a moment.

“About play.”

Play is an essential part of the human experience. It’s how we learn, connect, and express our true selves. In improv, play is the heartbeat of creativity; it’s the space where we can let go of our inhibitions and embrace the absurd. I’ve always believed that we shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously. Life is a stage, and we’re all players in this grand production. By engaging in play, we not only entertain but also unlock our potential for creativity and joy.

“About being a little ridiculous together.”

Let’s face it: life can be serious and overwhelming. Sometimes, what we need most is a dose of ridiculousness to remind us that it’s okay to be silly, to laugh at ourselves, and to embrace the quirks that make us human. In those moments of shared absurdity, we find common ground. Whether it’s through a ludicrous character or an outlandish scenario, laughter becomes a bridge that connects us, allowing us to let go of our worries and just enjoy the moment.

“About bringing out the kid in each of us.”

There’s something magical about tapping into our inner child. Children have an innate ability to find joy and wonder in the simplest things. They play with abandon, explore without fear, and laugh without reservation. My hope has always been to rekindle that spirit in our performances, to encourage everyone to embrace their playful side and to remember that joy is not just for kids—it’s for all of us. By channeling that childlike wonder, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and experiences.

“And a lot of that is Scott.”

This acknowledgment means the world to me. While I may lead the charge, the magic truly happens because of all of you—the talented performers, the enthusiastic audience members, and the supportive friends and family who have stood by my side for two decades. It’s a collective effort, a collaboration fueled by shared passion and love for what we do. I may have been the one to pull people in, but it’s your laughter, your energy, and your willingness to play that create the vibrant atmosphere we all cherish.

As I look back on the past twenty years, I’m filled with gratitude. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless moments of joy, creativity, and connection. Whether it was an impromptu scene that took an unexpected turn, a heartfelt story that resonated deeply, or a simple joke that brought the house down, each experience has been a reminder of the power of laughter and the strength of community.

“So, here’s to Scott – the man who fills a room, works a room, casts a room, and occasionally yells at a room – all in the service of joy.”

When I hear this, I can’t help but smile. I’ve always believed that my role is to create a space where everyone can shine. Whether I’m casting roles, engaging the audience, or, yes, even raising my voice in excitement, it’s all about fostering an environment where joy can flourish. I’m just one part of this incredible tapestry we’ve woven together, and I cherish every moment of it.

“For twenty years, he’s reminded us that comedy doesn’t just make life funnier. It makes life lighter.”

This sentiment captures the essence of what I strive to achieve through improv. Laughter can be a release, a way to lighten the burdens we carry every day. In an often-chaotic world, I’ve aimed to offer a moment of respite, a reminder that no matter how heavy life gets, there’s always room for laughter, joy, and connection.

As I write this, I envision a future where the Chuckleheads continue to thrive, where laughter echoes through the figurative halls of Planet Improv, and where each person who walks through those doors leaves a little lighter than when they arrived. If this toast were my eulogy, I would be deeply honored. It encapsulates not just my journey but the collective journey of everyone who has been a part of this incredible adventure.

So, let’s raise our glasses once more. Here’s to laughter, to community, and to the magic we create together! Here’s to the Chuckleheads, who have not only shared the stage with me but have also shared their hearts and spirits. Each of you has contributed to this beautiful journey, and I am forever grateful for the countless memories we’ve forged together.

Let us toast to the moments when we stepped out of our comfort zones and dared to be ridiculous. Here’s to the times we stumbled through scenes, laughed until we cried, and cheered each other on, no matter how chaotic things got. Every laugh shared, every character embodied, and every story told has added another layer to the rich tapestry of our experiences.

Here’s to the audience, who have filled the seats and filled our hearts with your laughter and energy. You are the lifeblood of our performances. Your enthusiasm fuels our creativity and encourages us to push the boundaries of what’s possible on stage. Thank you for being our partners in this journey, for showing up, and for bringing your own joy into the mix.

Here’s to the future. As we look ahead to the next twenty years, let’s continue to embrace the spirit of innovation and play. Let’s keep finding new ways to connect, to uplift each other, and to remind ourselves that life, with all its complexities, is infinitely more enjoyable when we approach it with a sense of humor.

I hope we can continue to gather, to laugh, and to create moments of joy. Let’s keep the spirit of improv alive and well, ensuring that the doors of Planet Improv remain open to all who seek a little laughter and lightness in their lives.

As I wrap up this reflection, I want to remind each of you that no matter where life takes us, the laughter we’ve shared will always echo in my heart. If this toast were my eulogy, I would leave this world with a profound sense of fulfillment, knowing that I was part of something greater than myself—a community that celebrates creativity, connection, and, above all, joy.

So, here’s to me, to the Chuckleheads, and to all of you who have been part of this incredible journey. May we continue to laugh together, support each other, and remind ourselves that life is a stage best enjoyed with a sense of humor and a heart full of love. Cheers!
